Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo (May 2017) The Rally Maya Mexico 2017 concluded with the award of Arturo Tejada and Luis Orduña, from the Guanajuato team, as the absolute winners of the fourth edition of the most important competition of regularity of old cars of Mexico and Latin America from May 19 to 28 and the announcement that the fifth edition of the rally will start in Cozumel on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the island.
“I am very satisfied with the results of this edition because the expectations of promoting the Mayan World and Quintana Roo were fulfilled, as well as carrying out social responsibility activities that benefited the communities we visited. I am very happy that next year we will start in Cozumel, “said Benjamín de la Peña, Founding President of the May Mexico Rally, during the awards dinner held at the Andaz Hotel, Mayakoba Resort.
At the end of five days of competition and nearly 1,200 kilometers traveled on Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo highways, the first place in Category D and absolute winners of the competition were Arturo Tejada and Luis Orduña, with 334 points; the second place was Plácido Marcelo Ramón and Arturo Curiel, with 408 points and third place to Luis García Berumen and Eduardo López Márquez, with 484 points.
In the framework of the dinner awards were given to sponsors such as Fundación Telmex, Quaker State, Full Gas, Grupo Expansión, Maxwell, Autos y Más, Hotel Andaz, Mayakoba, Communications and Transportation Secretariat, among others.
In addition to donating 100 wheelchairs for its passage through the three entities of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Mayan Rally Mexico managed on the last night of the rally to join efforts to raise funds for those who need it the most with the donation of resources by companies and groups such as Quaker State, Franck Muller and the Mercedes Benz Club for associations fighting Type 1 Diabetes in children in the Yucatan Peninsula.
On the last day of activities of the Rally Maya Mexico 2017, competitors and companions enjoyed a catamaran ride, a golf tournament in the El Camaleón field and in the evening an art auction was held as well as an awards dinner of the four categories with the presence of authorities, sponsors and participants. This Sunday the competitors and vehicles of collection will return to their places of origin.
